PMA Research was formerly Pacific Media Associates, which was established by Dr. William Coggshall. Dr. Coggshall was a co-founder of Dataquest (now part of Gartner) and helped start the syndicated high-tech market information business. Pacific Media Associates was also the first analyst firm to cover the display market exclusively, and the PMA team are respected worldwide for their high standards of research methodology, quality of reporting, and ethics. Dr. Coggshall left the company in December 2012 and handed over the reins to Nick Rogers, who had run PMA’s London office for a number of years. At that time, the company name was changed to PMA Research. Nick has a long history in the display industry, having spent 20+ years with Hitachi prior to joining PMA.
A good research firm strives to deliver good information to their clients, and the PMA Research team has a passion for delivering actionable, reliable data to their clients. PMA Research has team members living and working around the globe to maintain relationships with major players in the display industry ecosystem. In addition, they collect data from all points in that ecosystem – manufacturers, resellers and distributors, and end-users of display products – allowing them to have the best inputs to deliver accurate, quality reports, meaningful conclusions and solid market insights to their clients.
PMA continually strives for the highest levels of completeness and craftsmanship in our data collection, analysis, report formats, and interpretation of our findings. To aid in this, PMA Research rigorously maintains a comprehensive SQL Server database of market data and product specifications giving them a technology-savvy underpinning to their forecasting efforts. Data and other input provided by manufacturers and resellers is carefully safeguarded, and in the company’s almost 20 year history, there hasn’t been a single breach of confidentiality. All this results in PMA Research having the longest running history as the premier industry analyst firm following the display market.
