MAXX Mobile, a cell phone manufacturer located in Mumbai, India, introduced their first projector phone, the Focus MTP9. Few specifications about the embedded projector were disclosed, but the sparse User’s Manual seems to indicate that the only content the phone can project is video stored on the phone or its memory card. The phone supports GSM via dual SIM cards and features a 2.8″ touch screen, 5MP camera, Wi-FI, Bluetooth and a 1,200 mAh battery. The Focus MTP9 is currently available in India at a retail price of US$133.

After an initial period of strong interest in Smartphones with embedded projectors, PMA’s projector market research finds that most recent models have been mid-range “feature phones” targeting the Indian market.
